MINNEAPOLIS (August 2 , 2010) — Athletic Performance Solutions (APS) announced today it has
completed the new flooring system installation at the University of St. Thomas’ Anderson Athletic and
Recreation Complex. Construction of the $52 million complex began in May 2009 and the completion date
is on track for usage by the University’s fall sports teams.
The University of St. Thomas selected APS to install the Connor® RezillChannelTM sports flooring system
in a Boston Square pattern for the basketball/volleyball arena, the Connor NeoShok TM floating sports
floor system in two aerobic studios, and the Connor SportGuard TM vulcanized rubber flooring in the
13,700-square-foot weight room. "We wanted to provide our athletes with a great performing floor, but we
also wanted a competition floor that looked different than every other gym in Minnesota,” says Steve Fritz,
athletic director and men’s basketball coach at the University of St. Thomas. “With the Connor
RezillChannel System installed in a Boston Square pattern, we feel that we have achieved both of these
goals."
The unique Boston Square pattern is modeled after the TD Banknorth Garden parquet floor, made
famous by the NBA’s Boston Celtics, notes Nick Flood, sales manager at APS. “Each strip of maple is 45
inches long and is nailed in the same direction for four feet, before changing direction,” he says. “This
pattern creates a quilt-like look that really emphasizes the playing floor. It is unlike any gym floor in
Minnesota.”
The 180,000-square-foot Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex is expected to open in August 2010.
The new complex will contain a field house, an aquatic center, a basketball/volleyball arena, fitness and
weight-training facilities, locker rooms, and athletic offices and meeting rooms.
